The Black Vault on August 1 published an extensive case file examining the December 9, 1965 Kecksburg incident, a crash event in rural Pennsylvania that has drawn comparisons to the 1947 Roswell case.
The investigation, compiled by FOIA researcher John Greenewald, analyzes multiple explanations for the object that witnesses reported falling near the small town—including a meteor, a re-entering Soviet satellite, and an unidentified craft. Multiple witnesses at the time described military personnel arriving to secure the area and transport an object from the scene.
The case file incorporates official Project Blue Book records, documentation of NASA's involvement in the incident, and notably includes material from 2021 FOIA releases that Greenewald states provide new insight into government knowledge of the event.
The Kecksburg incident remains one of the more thoroughly documented UAP cases from the 1960s, with physical trace claims, multiple civilian witnesses, and documented military response. The new compilation offers researchers consolidated access to primary source documents alongside historical analysis.
The full case file is available on The Black Vault's website.
